What is it?
The initial release of the Tagging Module that allows users to create, manage, and apply tags in a centralized place for use in Creative Explorer and other modules, starting with images, videos, audiences, and campaigns for Facebook and images and campaigns for GDN banner ads.
Tagging of copy for Facebook and landing pages for both Facebook and GDN banner ads will be available in the next release.
Prior to this release, marketers were not able to create or apply tags within our platform without access to our Facebook/Instagram performance product, which users of Creative Explorer would not have access to.
With this release, users of Creative Explorer will be able to create and apply tags in the Tagging Module and then use those tags when performing analysis within Creative Explorer.
Why are we doing this?
Marketers use tagging to organize their campaigns and/or ads into meaningful groups for planning, reporting, and analysis. Without tagging, marketers are unable to quickly and easily group data by the characteristics that are important for their business. Marketers are instead forced to rely upon the groupings of data that are readily available to them (i.e., channels, platforms, campaigns, and ads) which are rigid and not conducive to analysis that does not neatly align with them. The ability to aggregate data based on groupings of ads with similar characteristics enables marketers to more quickly and easily expose patterns and generate new insights that would otherwise be difficult to see to better inform what they should iterate on or scale.
